As an ICSE-affiliated school, we follow the curriculum developed by the council right from the preschool stage. Elementary education is the basis for the child’s future and determines his/ her success in life. At Cambridge High School and S.L.M. Skylark Pre-School, we believe that children must receive a thorough grounding of whatever concepts they learn and that this learning has to be integrated with life.
The School has always stood for and promoted the principle of a high academic level of excellence right from its inception to the present. The high academic levels maintained right from the lower classes until the students leave the school, have enabled them to face the challenges of the outside world confidently and completely.
No expense is spared towards the development in the advanced fields of Science and Technology, Mathematics, Humanities, Information Technology, Computers, and Art, among others. This has helped transform our students into knowledgeable and well-informed youngsters ready and eager to take the challenges head on!
Pre-Primary is the foundation stage of the learning process and at S.L.M Skylark we have laid a strong foundation to support the holistic growth of the child during the learning years. The Curriculum in Pre-Primary has been designed to attain the learning objectives of developing cognitive, emotional, social, and motor skills. Children learn to sort, compare, assimilate, observe, and infer.
The curriculum addresses the uniqueness of each child and provides exposure beyond academics. Mime, dance, music, field trips; sports, and a range of hobby interests add new dimensions to the growth of the child.
The curriculum for Std. I to IV aims at developing children’s personal, social, and emotional well-being; promotes positive attitudes and disposition towards their learning; provides opportunities to develop social skills as well as developing language and communication, Reading and Writing, Math, Science, knowledge and understanding of the world; and physical and creative development.
The curriculum encourages children to explore their interests, as they move gradually from the familiar to the unknown. There is great scope for creativity, self-expression, and social skills of adaptability and teamwork.
The Middle School challenges learners with a broader curriculum, to lay the foundation for the High School Academic program. At this stage, study skills are honed, and concepts taught are thoroughly grounded, while group work and interaction with classmates cater to growing social awareness.
In grades V, VI, and VII, we start gearing for the ICSE curriculum. The School maintains high standards in all aspects of education. Although academics will be given top priority in the curriculum, the development of the child will not be neglected. Through the house system, healthy competition is encouraged in a variety of activities held on an ongoing basis throughout the year.
The Secondary Grades are a veritable bee hive of activity. We believe that every student has the potential to rise to challenges, and hence high demands are placed on the students, to stimulate high achievement. Each learner receives personal attention and guidance.
The work & progress of our students is monitored through class work, homework, projects, mid-term tests & examinations. The students of Std. VIII, IX, and X are prepared for the ICSE Examinations. However, we don’t lose sight of the importance of extracurricular activities that form an integral part of the curriculum. The academic curriculum is supported by debates, speech and drama, sports, music, and business development skills.
